This article analyzes the motif of feminine crossing of the sea in Hispanic texts of Tristan tradition (1501 and 1534). It focuses on the character of Isolde and it also studies the traditional symbolism of the elements that constitute the motif: water, sea, ship, journey, and sexual experience.
