                            [a] => The present paper highlights the relevance of the poem The Season by James Thomson which after its publication in 1730 became the model for all descriptive poetry of Nature, spreading out its influence throughout Europe. This is especially true of France, where the poem had already been imitated three decades after its first publication and the translation by Saint-Lambert actually had become as prestigious in Spain as the Scottish poet's original poem. Thomson's work and its outstanding French translator would become highly valued among Spanish poets, especially Cienfuegos and Meléndez Valdés, its enormous influence being traced on anacreontic odes by the poet Ribera del Fresno. Also, Thomson's work was to be translated and imitated in the early nineteenth century: both in the early French prose translation by Mme Bontemps (1801), and in the later partial translation by the Aragon journalist and writer Mor de Fuentes (1819). However, the two versions enjoyed unequal fortune and received due assessment of the times, which actually did not value much either of them. In this paper I analyze the translation of Gómez Romero (1801).
