The poet Antonio de Zayas (1871-1945) is considered as one of the highest authors of the Hispanic Parnassianism. His work Retratos antiguos (1902) shows a unique and singular lyrical resource: ekphrasis. The aims of this work consist on displaying an ekphrastic variety and combination at the end of the xix century poetics within the author's Parnassian style, by choosing four-way of analyses unpublished of Retratos antiguos: Prerrafaelism, modernist Ugliness, the aesthetic ideal of a hero of the late xix century and the recreation of the xviii century French world.
