At the time of the Counter-Reformation the litanies of the Virgin, of the Holy Name of Jesus and of the Blessed Sacrament play an important role in the liturgical field, but also serve as inspiration for religious poets such as Lope de Vega. In order to determine the influence of these prayers in Lope's verses we apply in this article two compatible research methods proposed by José Lebrero Fradejas and Witold Sadowski, the «litanic form» and the «litanic verse» respectively, that imply the analysis of their formal structure and content. We also focus on the poet's deep knowledge of the mariological, christological and eucharistic tradition, that reflect his devotional compositions.
