The article shows how the bestiary, one of the oldest literary forms, are still valid in the Spanish literatureof the xx and xxi centuries. From several bestiary of contemporary writers (Javier Tomeo, Gustavo Martín Garzo, Daniel Nesquens, Angel García López, José María Merino, José Luis Sampedro, Juan Jacinto Muñoz Rengel, etc.), we propose a taxonomy to help clarify the current use of the Spanish bestiary.In addition, we review the definition and characteristics of the genre.
