                            [a] => This article aims to analyse the development of the dramatic action in Cervantes' El rufián dichoso -The Fortunate Ruffian-. To this end, first of all a brief study of Aristotelian unity of action and the role that this plays in the New Comedy of Lope de Vega will be carried out. There will then be an analysis of the development of the dramatic action in each one of the three acts that make up this Cervantian play. The article will attempt to prove that El rufián dichoso departs from the unity of dramatic action and show which devices Cervantes uses to give structure and cohesion to the theatrical action of this hagiographic comedy as a consequence of this.
