By the example of the assumption of the imperial double-headed eagle in the western pre-heraldic, investigating the "migrations" from Eastern to Western Mediterranean (from XIIIth to XVIth Century) of that symbol, considered as emblem of the Eastern Roman Empire ("Basileia ton Romaion") or coat of the last imperial dynasty of the Paleologi, may offer a contribute to study of perception of the byzantine political ideology in the Latin West.
