El desdén, con el desdén (Agustín Moreto 1652-1653) is a comedy written to be represented in the Hall of Virtue of Philip IV, an issue that has remained unpublished to date. In this article, the author analyzes this issue in relation to the importance that the city of Barcelona acquires as a space for action. The purpose of these comedies was to represent in the Court an allegory about the good government of the monarch. The theme of El desdén, con el desdén, that includes the city of Barcelona itself, reflects the common meaning of the room and the scene. City and theater look in a mirror, each other: the city is symbolized in the theater; the theater is projected in the city. The city, therefore, becomes the main theme of the theatrical event for the self-celebration of the court
