Using her hagiographies and the pictorial works that illustrated them  during the selected period, it seeks to detect the synergies between the textual and  the visual elements that allowed the construction of an iconography of Mariana  infused with both edifying and patriotic overtones. Intended for Mariana's canonization,  this iconography would circulate and spread in both sides of the Atlantic
