                            [a] => The culture of a given people can be known through proverbs, since many of them were created centuries ago. In some of its various dimensions, the proverbs reflect different past life situations that can be instantaneous of some historical moments; they can be statements that contain advice, judgments, experiences or explanations of certain behaviors. They can also be the confirmation of some facts that allude to the social relations, the norms, the traditions and cultural facts, etc. Thanks to them, the customs and beliefs of the people have been preserved, as well as some aspects of the social life that include the characters of the different classes that are cited to exemplify a noble action or to recriminate intolerable acts. From this perspective, paremiological materials have great ethno-linguistic value insofar as they show the relationship between language and culture. In this article, we analyze the theme of historical and popular characters mentioned in Ḥassāni proverbs and idiomatic expressions in order to contribute to a better understanding of the Ḥassāni dialect and culture.
