During the reign of Philip II, various battles were fought, and one of the most difficult internal conflicts was the rebellion of the Alpujarras. The news about the Morisco revolt was published in different formats, handwritten and printed. In this sense, the popular literature that was printed was familiar with this phenomenon, and chapbooks displayed different facts about the uprising. In this study, we are particularly interested in an account of events, preserved in two chapbooks printed in different parts of the Peninsula, which includes the confession of Brianda Pérez, wife of Fernando de Córdoba y Válor also known by his Arab name Abén Humeya, who was the leader of the Morisco revolt. Until recently, there had been doubts about the existence of this woman and her confession, but recent documents prove that those facts were real. Therefore, Brianda Pérez' poetry chapbook takes on new meaning.
