                            [a] => This paper addresses the origins of the printed transmission of romances, paying special attention to the postincunable poetical chapbooks we conserve, but without losing sight of testimonies known through the Colombine catalogues. The analysis conducted demonstrates the interesting interrelationships and associations between romance texts and cancioneril poetry within these chapbooks, while simultaneously delving into a global interpretation of the phenomenon to help illuminate the poetical chapbooks' process of creation as textual and editorial products, with very deliberate and clearly intentional selections of texts which comprise small literary jewels of great editorial success. The article includes, in addition, a table of romance occurrences spanning the entire 16th century, as well as two appendices designed to reflect on the presence of chapbooks and romances in the Colombine catalogues (Appendix I) and the complex interrelationships between chapbooks and cancioneros (Appendix II).
