Based on the documentation preserved in the Archivo General de Indias and in the Archivo Histórico de la Nobleza (essentially, its Osuna section), this work delves into the effects of the great riot of 1692 in Mexico in terms of the political implications of those responsible for it. Particularly, it focuses on the subsequent actions of Viceroy Galve, who, from his private correspondence with his brother the IX Duke of Infantado, expresses his utmost concerns about the drink of pulque as a major cause of the riot
