The «Psalmo a la limpísima Concepción de la Madre de Dios», by Novohispanic poet Eugenio de Salazar, is a remarkable composition in his works and in the poetic tradition of psalms, both because of its topic, the Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary (question that caused polemic at the time), and because of its absence among the biblical Psalms. This paper analyzes the poem in connection with poetic treatment of the book of Psalms and with the reconfiguration of biblical matter in Salazar's works. As a result, reflections suggest that this psalm departs from Hispanic tradition of glossing and translation and also it represents an original composition that allows the poet to show his knowledge about different passages of the biblical text and, at the same time, it allows him to insert himself into the topics and debates of the society of his time
