    As the title suggests, this work presents some of the difficulties in the learning process of the Romanian language by foreigners due to the incorrect graphic representation of its phonemes and the absence of tildes, essential to differenciate between stressed and unstressed vowels. As examples of this, we offer a series of words the origin of which is difficult to trace, as the initial vowels were substituted by other vowels with diacritics that were incorporated into the Romanian alphabet. The so called phonologic princi- ple causes sometimes confusion between different words, and makes Romanian more irregular and more difficult to learn. Another aspect is the use of tildes to differenciate between stressed and unstressed vowels, instead of adapting new vowels that only lead to confusion and constitute an obstacle for the learners of Romanian.
