Cela tried to make different the last chapter of his 1951 outstanding novel starting by its title. In this paper the aforementioned chapter is analysed to show how the character Martín Marco becomes more important, the concept of solidarity is introduced, facing the lack of solidarity which dominated the novel, and the action of the story finally converges.
