Those acquainted with Tirso de Molina's life and literary trajectory will immediately recognize his constant preoccupation regarding his artistic creation and the reception of his works; and specifically, for the literary outcome of his wit, whose main components are humor, the dissemination of the comic elements, a language based on games of wit, neologisms and carnival motifs, as well as the exploration of rustic wit and the brilliant technique of courtly mockery. Los tres maridos burlados is a short novel, narrated by don Melchor and included in the fifth "cigarral," together with the representation of El celoso prudente, without losing «the autonomy of its own narrative construction». As Nougué has pointed out, this farcical short novel is based on popular and folkloric sources that were propagated by minstrels and travelers throughout Europe, and especially in Italy. Taking into account Mijaíl Bajtín's work, Gargantua Rabelais and His World, I intend to emphasize some important elements, typical of the aesthetics of the grotesque. In my opinion, these elements interact among themselves in Tirso's work
